STEM Strategies is Course 1 of a two-course program plus STEM Immersion Experience leading to a Pioneer RESA STEM Education Endorsement. STEM Strategies is a 50-hour (5 PLU) course composed of a variety of modules an activities. It begins the endorsement program of study and can be experienced in conjunction with the STEM Immersion Experience. STEM Strategies is designed to engage candidates in the study of STEM instructional components. The course will prepare candidates to enter STEM Practices where implementation-ready STEM lesson plans and performance rubrics that are project-based, problem-based, and place-based will be developed. The course design includes reading, research, discussion, synthesis of knowledge, generation of new questions and artifacts, reflection, evaluation, and assessment to produce implementation ready lessons. This course will provide a strong emphasis on the development and implementation of the inquiry process for STEM lesson development incorporating habits of mind and mathematical practices.
Classes will meet on Thursday evenings at Pioneer RESA from 4:30 – 8:30 pm.
