Readers’ Workshop: Participants will develop an understanding of creating an organized set of language and literacy experiences (minilesson, individual reading, conferring, small group instruction, and sharing). We will delve into the characteristics of a readers’ workshop and explore its’ many advantages. Three key components of the reading workshop—independent reading, conferring, and small group instruction will be explored. The session will also include instruction on teaching small groups: guided reading, strategy groups, and literature study (book clubs).
