Do you often hear the “this is boring” chorus when you ask students to read, write, speak, or think critically about content-area topics? Are students able to implement reading strategies but still not comprehend difficult concepts? Most of all, is your goal to use literacy as a tool to unlock differentiate instruction so that each student not only accesses your content but learns in meaningful ways? Reading strategies can only take us so far and, unfortunately, they often don’t address the challenges and strengths of each unique discipline. Join ReLeah Cossett Lent, author of This is Disciplinary Literacy and Disciplinary Literacy in Action, in an extended workshop that blends the latest research with engaging instructional practices for content area teachers. Best of all, you will have time to design lessons that will invigorate your teaching and deepen learning for all students
