This course is designed to prepare child development staff to assist students in responding to the change, trauma, and grief brought on by the coronavirus epidemic and related family and economic tensions. At the conclusion of the training, participants will: 1) understand a model for stress, trauma, and grief that gives a context for understanding students’ (and their own) response to the coronavirus epidemic and its impact, 2) describe a model of resilience that can insulate students’ against negative mental health outcomes as a result of the pandemic, 3) learn and practice a sequence of experiential activities to use with students to build resilience and effectively process change, trauma, and grief.
